About the Opportunity

The Scheduling Specialist - Orthopedics plays a vital role in managing patient scheduling and administrative coordination within a fast-paced virtual call center. This position ensures patients receive timely access to orthopedic care by efficiently scheduling appointments, verifying information, and collaborating with clinical staff. The role contributes directly to patient experience and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of administrative contact for patients, providing professional customer service and timely scheduling assistance.
  • Determine patient needs and schedule or cancel appointments accordingly.
  • Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Maintain and update physician schedules to ensure accurate patient bookings.
  • Enter and update patient data in the computer system to support front desk and billing accuracy.
  • Document patient interactions and maintain accurate records.
  • Cook up and coordinate daily patient scheduling and administrative tasks.
  • Provide administrative support to the clinical team as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with other employees and management.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in medical clerical roles.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Experience with Navinet, ECW, and EPIC systems.
  • Experience in a multispecialty group practice or healthcare system preferred.
  • One year of experience in insurance authorizations is desirable.

Pay Range and Compensation Package

Hourly rate: $18.89 to $27.81, varying based on experience, internal equity, and market alignment.
