About the role

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. The project involves constructing an 800-mile high-speed rail network in California, with 119 miles currently under construction in the Central Valley. Initial operation is targeted between 2030 and 2033, with total costs estimated between $88–$128 billion.

Responsibilities

  • Hold full accountability for business planning and long-term planning performance across hubs, sectors, and overall company goals.
  • Lead teams delivering planning and schedule management services, providing recognized technical expertise on complex projects.
  • Provide expert advice and support across projects and sectors, acting as a trusted partner to clients and colleagues.
  • Build and sustain strong networks, cultivating relationships with senior stakeholders and championing Mace within the industry.
  • Drive systematic performance improvement, aligning deliverables to organizational strategy and simplifying complexity into clear outcomes.
  • Promote sustainability and net zero carbon transition, proactively managing emissions and embedding responsible practices in delivery.
  • Champion a safe, diverse, and inclusive working environment, ensuring wellbeing and adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Lead cost management services, including estimating, procurement, and cost planning, while owning the quality of deliverables and strategic outcomes.
  • Influence fiscally and ethically viable operations that align with business and legislative compliance obligations.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Chartered membership (APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA) or equivalent professional qualifications and development.
  • Significant experience leading planning strategies and schedule management on major construction programs.
  • Strong commercial acumen with advanced expertise in risk tools, project controls, and digital systems.
  • Proven leadership of large, diverse teams, effective stakeholder engagement, and commitment to sustainability and net zero transition.

Pay

Estimated salary for this position is $250,000 - $300,000 USD. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
