About the role

This full-time position is primarily based at North Tampa (14547 Bruce B. Downs Blvd.), with occasional floating to Wesley Chapel or Carrollwood locations as needed to provide coverage. The Scheduling Coordinator will communicate regularly with physicians, patients, and ancillary and surgical areas to manage scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellation of single or multiple tests and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information on department/procedure-specific scheduling criteria to expedite patient preparation, arrival location, and time.
  • Be proactive with all customers by actively listening, showing a caring attitude, and offering alternatives when necessary.
  • Demonstrate superb telephone etiquette, a team-player attitude, and professional communication skills at all times.
  • Understand and uphold Orlando Health’s Patient First Philosophy for exemplary customer service.
  • Exhibit working knowledge of registration, scheduling systems, and web-based resources.
  • Operate computer applications, multi-line telephone systems, printers, copiers, fax machines, and perform required data entry.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of medical needs during the screening process for scheduling appointments.
  • Review schedules daily and communicate all changes to appropriate staff.
  • Consistently meet departmental goals for productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of ICD-9 (ICD-10) and CPT codes, as necessary.
  • Identify customer service issues and resolve or initiate necessary follow-up.
  • Adhere to the Orlando Health Professional Appearance Policy at all times.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and federal, state, and local standards (e.g., ADA, FMLA).
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular communication with practices regarding scheduling matters, as needed.
  • Attend departmental meetings, in-services, and participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Assume responsibility for professional growth and development.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must complete Orlando Health’s medical terminology course within 90 days of hire.
  • One (1) year of retail, customer service, or healthcare experience.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Procedure scheduling experience, preferably in GI, but not required.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday.
