Scheduling Clerk
About the Role
The Master Scheduler arranges for the efficient and orderly scheduling of all patients while ensuring that patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Scheduling clerks interview incoming calls, enter information required for admission into the computer database, and distribute information to ancillary departments. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills to provide service appropriate to the age of the patient over the phone, understanding principles of growth and development over the life span, and assessing data to identify each patient's age-specific needs.
Responsibilities
- Obtains authorization for add-on same-day procedures.
- Quotes and collects payment for self-pay scheduled procedures (self-pay is out of scope for the Patient Assistance Center).
- Cross-trained in registration.
- Works the Patient Index File of incoming orders and ensures they are archived to the appropriate account.
- Follows oral and written instructions while maintaining a pleasant personality under pressure.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Professional appearance, good communication skills, friendly personality, and a positive attitude.
