Overview
The US Oncology Network is seeking a Scheduler to join their team at Texas Oncology's Plano West location. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm position with no weekends, call, or major holidays. The role can be at Level 1, 2, or Senior based on the candidate's experience.
What does the Scheduler do?
- Answers all incoming calls and directs calls to appropriate personnel.
- Serves as a liaison between patients and medical staff.
- Maintains primary office scheduling template containing physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding, and call coverage.
- Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
- Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/practice.
- Fulfills administrative tasks such as preparing correspondence, memos, forms, and other typing as requested by supervisor.
- Schedules outpatient appointments/testing/surgeries and hospital admissions upon request.
- Obtains necessary pre-certification as required.
- Communicates with patients about surgeries or tests being scheduled and potential prep work needed.
- Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office.
- Covers for other front office functions as requested.
Qualifications
- Level 1: High school diploma or equivalent required, 0-3 years' experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Level 2: Minimum three years office experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
- Level Sr: Minimum five years office experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Knowledge of medical terminology and coding required.
Physical Demands
- Sitting for long periods of time.
- Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, and other office equipment.
- Viewing and typing on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
