About the role

Missouri Cancer Associates is a multi-specialty practice including medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, and urology. With 22 providers serving ten Missouri communities, our main office is in Columbia. We are the premier Cancer Treatment Center in Mid-Missouri, offering state-of-the-art medical technology, highly experienced physicians and nurse practitioners, and quality patient care. In 2022, we celebrated our 40th year of serving patients.

We are seeking a friendly and hard-working Patient Services Coordinator/Receptionist to join our team in a challenging, fast-paced environment where you can make a difference in the lives of many.

This position is located at 603 W Pierce, Kirksville, Missouri. Missouri Cancer Associates is affiliated with Urology Associates of Central Missouri and the US Oncology Network.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors to the clinic in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Checks in patients and informs clinical staff of patient arrival.
  • Provides and explains paperwork for the patient to complete prior to examination.
  • Collects, proofs for completeness, and files patient forms.
  • Updates demographics and insurance information in the system.
  • Collects co-pays and balances; provides receipt.
  • Answers, screens, and responds to routine questions, routes to appropriate personnel, or takes thorough messages.
  • Pages clinic personnel as appropriate and communicates messages accurately and timely.
  • Checks patients out after examination.
  • Schedules returning appointments in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines.
  • Provides patients with appointment details such as time, location, directions, instruction sheets, and other details.
  • Records patient cancellations and missed appointments; reschedules appointments and notifies appropriate staff.
  • Provides general administrative support by filing charts and forms.
  • Maintains lobby area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Maintains a legible supply of forms and appropriate office supplies required for daily activities.
  • Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines regarding patient records.
  • Other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some receptionist or office experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft (Outlook, Office Word, and Excel) required.
  • Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying the position.
