SCHEDULER POSITION OVERVIEW

Contact insurance carriers to verify patient's insurance eligibility, benefits and requirements.
Request, track and obtain pre-authorization from insurance carriers within time allotted for medical services.
Schedule patients for any required diagnostic tests prior to surgery (for example MRI, CT).
Review patient medications and health history to determine pre-admission testing.
Schedule appropriate medical and other clearances.
Schedule patient for follow-up appointments.

Demonstrate and apply knowledge of medical terminology, high proficiency of general medical office procedures including HIPAA regulations.
Communicate any insurance changes or trends among team.
Maintains a level of productivity suitable for the department.
Clearly document all communications and contacts with providers and personnel in standardized documentation requirements, including proper format.

Requirements

• SCHEDULER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• Education: High school diploma. 2 years surgery scheduling/prior authorization experience required.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Requires effective customer relation skills, ability to organize and interpret data.
• Requires good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and ability to problem solve.

• SCHEDULER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• Previous neurosurgery scheduling experience preferred

Hours of Business

• Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Must be able to work early, late and long hours, as needed, to meet the essential functions of the job
