Scheduler

About the role

The Scheduler plays a vital role in the workflow process, ensuring requests from various engineering areas are scheduled to meet customer due dates and commitments. This includes work on design sketches, maintenance orders, emergency work from System Operations, customer service requests, and crew follow-up orders generated through Work Manager, SAP, or Mobile Data. The Scheduler makes resource decisions for internal and/or contract crews based on availability and workload, shifting work as needed to meet commitments and optimize productivity. The role involves tracking project status and delays for monthly reporting and collaborating closely with Construction Inspectors, Power Quality Specialists, Reliability Engineers, Designers, Design Management Teams, Claims, Customer Service, and System Operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop soft schedules for work in design stages to provide workload visibility and estimated construction start dates.
• Create construction work schedules for internal and/or contractor crews for customer visibility.
• Receive and create job packages for both planned and emergency work.
• Manage the schedule to meet customer-requested due dates.
• Review design sketches to determine construction resources and estimated hours needed.
• Prepare jobs by applying for all necessary permits, including COSA permits, TX-DOT permits, 811 locates, and water locates.
• Assist with the creation of vegetation and/or maintenance orders in SAP and Mobile Dispatch.
• Manage notifications in Mobile Dispatch and assign them to personnel for field verification and completion.
• Monitor crew workload and adjust schedules as needed.
• Schedule and dispatch jobs using Service Suite Dispatch Application, Mobile Data, and Work Manager systems, documenting progress, holds, or delays.
• Review work orders for sequencing to ensure schedules are met.
• Print design sketches from Work Manager and assign them to crews for Capital project support.
• Input planned outage information into GIS for IVR system messages to customers.
• Run daily reports on scheduled work.
• Assist with reviewing crew time sheets as needed.
• Check department voicemail daily, respond to customer calls, and dispatch resources as needed.
• Assist with generating GIS circuit maps for circuit patrol inspections.
• Review and prepare contractor invoices for payment.
• Create and track work orders in Excel or Access databases as necessary.
• Handle inquiries from Design, Construction, System Operations, Claims, Customer Service, and Outside Services teams.
• Address crew requests for information, updates to locates, and record daily work completion.
• Utilize Scheduling Dashboards to monitor work and project due dates.
• Attend monthly Safety and Staff Meetings.
• Provide relief to other Schedulers.
• Serve as Wire Down Manager during storms, dispatching wire-down orders and assisting System Operators.
• Complete other assignments as necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to meet goals and objectives with minimal direct supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of personnel.
• Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with customers and support teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior scheduling/dispatching experience or exposure to Service Suite 9.3.1 (Mobile Data System) and CGI Work Manager systems.
• Understanding of construction practices, crew crafts, and sequencing of construction.
• Ability to read and analyze GIS designs.
• Prior experience using Work Manager and SAP.
