Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from Accredited University (required)
- Master's degree in education (preferred)
- Meet applicable State certification requirements
- Texas Teacher's Certification (preferred)
- ESL Certification
- Five or more years successful teaching experience
- Knowledge of best practices and high yield strategies for at-risk students
Skills
- Thorough knowledge and skills of Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) requirements
- Thorough knowledge and skills of effective instructional intervention strategies, such as:
- Differentiated Instructional Strategies
- Universal Screeners
- District Supported Intervention Tools/Programs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Extensive knowledge of Texas curriculum (TEKS) and state assessments
- Extensive knowledge of technology and instructional application
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with:
- Personal computer, printer, fax machine, copier, scanner, and calculator
- Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, One Drive, etc.)
- Google Suite applications (Docs, G-Mail, Sheets, Slides, Drive, etc.)
Responsibilities
Instructional Support
- Student support (in collaboration with classroom teacher):
- Select, develop, modify and/or adapt materials and resources to support learning objectives and address students' varying learning styles and special needs
- Ensure proper interventions are put in place for struggling students
- Provide intervention support with effective implementation
- Monitor progress of at-risk students
- Review and analyze documented student data for needed modification
- Teacher support:
- Coaching
- Co-planning and co-teaching
- Demonstration lessons that focus on processes and procedures ensuring effective learning for varied individuals
- Targeted classroom support to improve student success
- Assisting in the analysis of data to determine instructional needs
- PLCs based on student needs and instructional intervention strategies
- Campus support:
- MTSS Facilitation
- Assisting in the analysis of data to determine student/campus needs to identify campus-wide instructional intervention needs
- Facilitation of professional learning
- Participation in professional development to strengthen and grow one's own professional knowledge:
- Keep abreast of current research and practice
- Participate in professional learning in alignment with the SCE SI & Principal partnership agreement
Other Duties
- Performs other duties that support the purpose and impact of SCE services, as assigned by campus leadership
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
Working Conditions
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computers and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
- Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping
- Motion: Moderate walking
- Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
- Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
