Scale Operator

About the role

Scale Operator responsible for managing incoming material, customer interactions, and administrative tasks at the landfill scale house.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers, directs haulers and other traffic, and answers questions accurately.
• Ensures incoming material is manifested, safe, and does not contain prohibited material.
• Obtains information regarding material entering landfill to properly bill the customer and track the total amount and type of waste.
• Provides a scale ticket to the customer, signs the waste manifest, and documents the waste entering the landfill.
• Completes all administrative tasks including regular filing and required reports.
• Identifies and reports problems; gathers needed information to develop solutions.
• Reports customer and/or supplier problems to management and responds promptly to customer needs.
• Ensures customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Communicates with General Manager and other operators via 2-way radio for proper dispatch.
• Provides general housekeeping of the Scale House.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication skills.
• Planning and organization abilities.
• Goal-oriented mindset.
• Effective time management.
• Analytical thinker who can multi-task and is extremely organized.

Schedule

Monday–Friday with varying start times. Additional hours may be needed.
