Scale Clerk - Oklahoma City
About the role
This is a position in a recycling facility responsible for the operation of the truck scale(s) for both inbound and outbound loads. The role involves accurate computer entries to verify weights, deductions, and suppliers, as well as routing WestRock or third-party drivers based on daily requirements. Exceptional customer service is critical due to frequent contact with supplier contacts.
Responsibilities
- Operates scale to weigh in and weigh out both inbound and outbound loads for commercial and private vehicles.
- Provides necessary paperwork for all inbound and outbound loads.
- Makes entries on daily logs for inbound and outbound trailer loads and ensures accuracy.
- Answers calls to the plant and provides front-line customer service.
- Plans and routes pickups for suppliers in coordination with WestRock or third-party drivers.
- Provides information and responds to inquiries from co-workers and other departments in person, on the phone, or by two-way radio.
- Maintains various files on a daily basis.
- Generates reports as requested by co-workers and suppliers.
- Receives, unloads, and loads tickets, inputting them into the system, including commodities and deductions, ensuring accuracy.
- Ensures outbound loads meet federal compliance regarding weights and paperwork.
- Ensures the scale is working properly and calibrated regularly.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, bills of lading, and unloading reports.
- Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, etc.).
- Ability to multi-task with various interruptions.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to operate basic office equipment (fax machine, copy machine, etc.).
- Ability to maintain good attendance.
- Ability to answer the telephone and provide information/assistance to customers.
- Knowledge of current office procedures and methods, including telephone communication, office systems, and record keeping.
- Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
