About the role

Responsible for building up and breaking down temporary scaffold structures.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and dismantle scaffolding structures that allow workers to access specific portions of a building to perform needed work.
• Build, position, and dismantle wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or company standards.
• Examine, select, and gather materials and tools.
• Examine blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions of structure.
• Inspect base surface for obstructions.
• Saw boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
• Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors, and pry bars.
• Assemble scaffold containing handrails, mid rails, braces and planks, toe boards, screening, locking pins, and wheels to job specifications.
• Load, transport, and unload material.
• Determine type of scaffold needed and how to properly instruct on installation.
• Oversee transport of tubular scaffold or other structural material and erect the scaffold as instructed.
• Hoist scaffolding materials upward to erect temporary structure.
• Properly secure and level locking sections of scaffolding material.
• Properly secure scaffold to the permanent structure for added stability.
• Supervise the dismantling of scaffolding when properly communicated.
• Inspect and properly stow scaffolding material after dismantling.
• Perform final inspection of completed scaffolding.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Carpenter experience.
• Ability to work at heights with no fear.
• Must have a TWIC card.
• Must be able to pass required training and hair follicle drug test.
