About the role
Responsible for building up and breaking down temporary scaffold structures.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and dismantle scaffolding structures that allow workers to access specific portions of a building to perform needed work.
- Build, position, and dismantle wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or company standards.
- Examine, select, and gather materials and tools.
- Examine blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions of structure.
- Inspect base surface for obstructions.
- Saw boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
- Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors, and pry bars.
- Assemble scaffold containing handrails, mid rails, braces and planks, toe boards, screening, locking pins, and wheels to job specifications.
- Load, transport, and unload material.
- Determine type of scaffold needed and how to properly instruct on installation.
- Oversee transport of tubular scaffold or other structural material and erect the scaffold as instructed.
- Hoist scaffolding materials upward to erect temporary structure.
- Properly secure and level locking sections of scaffolding material.
- Properly secure scaffold to the permanent structure for added stability.
- Supervise the dismantling of scaffolding when properly communicated.
- Inspect and properly stow scaffolding material after dismantling.
- Perform final inspection of completed scaffolding.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Carpenter experience.
- Ability to work at heights with no fear.
- Must have a TWIC card.
- Must be able to pass required training and hair follicle drug test.
