SCA Telecommunications Mechanic II

About the role

Bowhead seeks a Telecommunications Mechanic II to join our team at Goodfellow AFB, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsive, reliable, detail-oriented, and possess excellent problem-solving skills. This role involves assisting technicians with Base Telephone Services (BTS) and performing a variety of installation and maintenance tasks for telecommunications infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Install and de-install equipment racks, cable trays, J-hooks, fire sleeves, patch panels, wire managers, 110 blocks, 66 blocks, jacks, face plates, and other communication equipment.
• Install, uninstall, and remove instruments, service lines, and LAN cabling, including cat3, cat5, cat5e, cat6, cat6a, multi-pair, fiber optic, coax cabling, outside plant cabling, and outside plant infrastructure.
• Perform specialized machine duties or test telephone switch parts as assigned.
• Splice aerial cable from bucket lift, aerial lift, or other hoist mechanisms (preferred).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing equipment troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance for structured cabling systems.
• Preference for candidates with one or more years of experience installing, splicing, and servicing Cat 5, 5e, 6, and fiber optics.
• IT fundamentals and experience with Ethernet and Fiber Optic technologies.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
• Must be able to lift and climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.

Security Clearance

Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is required for Secret clearance at this location.
