About the Role
This position will provide individual consulting and training to current and prospective business owners. The SBDC (Small Business Development Center) Business Consultant will work with communities, organizations, and other agencies to disseminate general business information.
Responsibilities
- Provides high-quality business consulting services to clients in the Scranton SBDC's service area across the full spectrum of business functions by performing analyses, making recommendations, and educating clients about small business strategies.
- Works collaboratively with a variety of internal and external constituents including internal departments of the University; community and economic development and resource agencies; the PASBDC; and the general public.
- Facilitates meetings, develops and delivers training programs to small and large audiences, leads group discussions and planning sessions.
- Travels regularly throughout the SBDC's eight-county service area, including frequent day travel to regional locations; works occasional evenings; and participates in periodic overnight travel and weekend events as needed.
- Meets all deliverables as determined by the Director, including those required to maintain funding, grant, and contractual compliance.
- Follows all online and other reporting requirements established by the Center.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required in Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, or a computer-related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in entrepreneurship, small business, accounting, finance, or a computer-related field.
- In-depth knowledge of entrepreneurship, small business, accounting, marketing, human resource management, and financial analysis.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- Small business ownership/experience.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional hours/days as required.
