Responsibilities
- Compile data for credit package preparation, including spreads, cash flow, value of related collateral, appraisals, audits, and other relevant information.
- Interpret analysis outcomes and prepare summaries, recommendations, and joint presentations with Relationship Managers to Credit Approvers for renewals and new loan submissions.
- Evaluate and analyze loan applications for commercial, commercial real estate, and business banking sectors, identifying credit strengths and weaknesses through detailed and documented analysis.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies, banking regulations, and laws during the loan processing phase.
- Identify risks and mitigation strategies for thorough credit analysis.
- Respond to customer inquiries and recommend exceptions based on findings.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers on complex loan structuring, including discussions on long-term, fixed vs. variable rates, pre-payment penalties, and other variables.
- May have authority to approve loans beyond established guidelines, especially at senior levels where they can also serve as leads and manage second-level approvals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field with 1+ years of commercial, commercial real estate credit or small business underwriting, spread analysis, lending, underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of commercial, commercial real estate, and small business credit underwriting, spread analysis, lending, underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Understanding of C&I and CRE loan requirements, ability to identify risks and mitigating factors, and knowledge of balance sheets, income, and cash flow statements.
- Knowledge of commercial and small business lending policies and procedures, general banking laws and regulations, and proficiency in analyzing financial statements, business plans, credit reports, debt ratios, and loan-to-value information.
- Good judgment, decision-making abilities, and strong customer relations and communication skills.
- Self-starter, dependable, organized, and detail-oriented with working knowledge of relevant software applications.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of commercial, commercial real estate, and small business credit underwriting, spread analysis, lending, underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to analyze and research financial statements, business plans, credit reports, debt ratios, and loan-to-value information.
- Good understanding of commercial and small business lending policies and procedures and general banking laws and regulations.
- Ability to make sound decisions and possess good judgment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of various related software applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, etc.
