About the role

Zions Bank is seeking a Commercial Banking Underwriter for the Equipment Finance Division, based in the Midvale, Utah office. This role involves conducting credit investigations, loan analysis, and underwriting to support the bank’s lending operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct credit investigations, credit and loan analysis, underwriting, and documentation pertaining to loan analysis.
  • Investigate all available sources of credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus, other companies, main office files, and branches.
  • Understand loan requests and business relationships to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information for loan renewals.
  • Analyze financial statements and related material; make recommendations for credit approvals.
  • Analyze financial conditions and trends; review and report non-compliance with loan covenants.
  • Determine cash flow using appropriate tax analysis.
  • Prepare summaries, present facts, and offer opinions concerning credit-worthiness and risk items.
  • Provide credit information and references for customers, loan officers, or other agencies as requested.
  • Ensure credit files include current financial information.
  • May assist with projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of credit/financial analysis, lending, underwriting, or directly related experience. A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements.
  • Preference for candidates with Equipment Finance or Leasing backgrounds.
  • Working knowledge of financial and spread analysis, credit, lending, and underwriting processes and principles.
  • Experience working with various types of loans.
  • Working knowledge of credit risk, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with lending officers and staff.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and recommendations regarding loans.
  • Proficiency in computer software programs, including spreadsheets and word processing.
