Role Summary

Gesa Credit Union is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Small Business Administration (SBA) Relationship Manager to join our dynamic team. The SBA Relationship Manager reports to the SBA Sales Manager or SBA Lending Manager. The primary responsibility is to establish, develop, and retain customer relationships through referrals and business development, focusing on SBA loan guarantee programs.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Annual production of $6 million or more in government guaranteed SBA 7(A) loans, with a typical mix of 75% 7a and 25% 504 deals.
  • Active referrals to credit union partners and promotion of all credit union products and services.
  • Makes substantial in-person calls on prospects and clients, requiring extensive automobile travel.
  • Develops and maintains a referral source database for both local and overall SBA marketing purposes.
  • Accepts and interviews loan applicants, reviews applications and credit histories, and evaluates existing and projected company cash flow.
  • Structures SBA loans, prepares loan proposals, and presents loan applications, extensions, modifications, and renewals.
  • Maintains existing customer relationships, develops new ones, and monitors loans through periodic reviews and documentation.
  • Collects past due accounts and supports account collections as needed.
  • Maintains credit files and updates the status of client relationships.
  • Maintains knowledge of and complies with banking and credit union regulations, including internal policies.
  • Serves as a liaison between branches and commercial loan officers to respond to referrals for new SBA business.
  • Performs assigned duties in accordance with Gesa Credit Union and SBA’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Performs job duties with limited daily supervision, exercising discretion and sound judgment.

About You

  • Business development skills are strongly recommended.
  • Thorough knowledge of banking or credit union services.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial lending policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business cash flow and other financial analysis.
  • Proficient computer skills with collaboration and productivity tools.
  • Ability to utilize technology to communicate effectively.
  • Display leadership values such as mutual respect, honesty, trust, and dignity.
  • Always display solid ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to understand small business relationships and provide options that meet their needs.
  • Ability to converse with business owners and achieve a high sales level in business development and cross sales.

  • Ability to work well in and contribute to a cohesive team environment.
  • Effectively communicate ideas and information, both verbally and in writing.
  • Display and maintain courtesy, tact, and diplomacy with current and potential vendors, peers, and staff.

Qualifications

  • One to two years of commercial lending relationship management, preferably with an emphasis on SBA lending.
  • Basic Treasury Management product knowledge is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and conduct credit analysis.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service via phone, email, and in-person, and excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment and business software.
  • Ability to travel for market development, credit union training, site visits, SBA specific training, and other duties.
  • High energy level and ability to sell to customers' needs.
  • Ability to close, prospect, and plan sales.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with prior consumer and commercial lending experience, and a wide-ranging and in-depth knowledge of industry practices.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Some college with a focus on accounting, finance, or general business.

  • Full salary range: $80,168.40 - $131,498.25.
