About the Role
The SBA Eligibility Review Officer III serves as the subject matter expert in SBA servicing procedures and acts as a consultant on government-guaranteed loan programs to sales, underwriting, and closing colleagues. This role maintains an individual pipeline of work, typically handling loans of advanced complexity with customer exposure up to $5 million.
Responsibilities
- Appropriately assess eligibility of borrower(s), co-borrower(s), and guarantor(s) to ensure the SBA guarantee can be enforced if needed.
- Interact with internal SBA Sales and Operations colleagues to facilitate understanding of SBA and USDA guaranteed loan programs, obtain necessary eligibility information, and communicate eligibility decisions and reasoning.
- Review use of proceeds, order SBA Number, prepare SBA Loan Authorization and other SBA forms, ensuring the loan meets all SBA/USDA requirements.
- Review all reports and information related to SBA/USDA eligibility requirements, including franchise agreements, purchase agreements, bank notes, and business plans, to determine if terms and conditions of the SBA credit approval will be met.
- Research and resolve complex servicing questions from the SBA and internal personnel to ensure the guaranty can be maintained.
- Advise Financial Recovery Group (FRG) colleagues on properly working out, liquidating, and litigating SBA loans, and submit final wrap-up reports to the SBA once resolution is made.
- Serve as the main point of contact to commercial loan servicing colleagues to ensure proper accounting and reporting of all SBA loans (1502 Report).
- Assist with training and mentoring new hires, as well as providing support for the SBA ERO I & SBA ERO II job families.
- Perform other tasks as needed to support the line of business and job family.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of HNB SBA/USDA lending/due diligence experience, or a minimum of 7 years of direct SBA/USDA lending/due diligence experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics.
- Knowledge of the SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Ability to clearly document and communicate eligibility conditions to close in accordance with SBA Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task.
- Demonstrates confidence, assertiveness, professionalism, and ability to interact with all levels within the organization.
- Knowledge of SBA/USDA loan programs; TSoft and SBA Etran experience preferred.
- Excellent PC skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, AFS, and Velocity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to write in a concise, logical manner to clearly document transaction risks and mitigants.
Pay
The compensation range for this position is $77,000 - $154,000 annual salary. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including location, experience, and education. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.
