SB-38 Treatment Counselor

CADA is hiring a Part-Time SB-38 Counselor to support our DUI treatment program in Downtown Santa Barbara. This role works with individuals referred by the courts to re-instate their driving capability. SB38 refers to the Senate Bill mandating a DUI program for repeat offenders who receive a second DUI conviction within 10 years of a prior DUI or wet and reckless conviction.

Requirements

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent (required)
• AA/AS in Psychology, Counseling, or another relevant field (preferred)
• Substance Abuse counselor registration, certification, or clinical license from a State of California Accredited Institution
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in alcohol/drug counseling (strongly preferred)
• Experience providing counseling services to diverse, bilingual, bicultural clients (preferred)
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
• Strong documentation and organizational skills
• Specific knowledge of individual counseling principles and techniques, and substance abuse assessment and case planning
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Systems, and Databases
• Up-to-date Tuberculosis test (required during employment)

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group substance abuse counseling, education, and relapse prevention sessions for outpatient treatment and the 18-month DUI multiple offender program
• Maintain a caseload and ensure weekly services are provided to meet client needs
• Outreach and schedule clients as needed for their treatment goals and productivity
• Conduct client assessments during the first individual counseling session using the provided client assessment tool
• Track SB38 clients' progress in the program and provide progress reports per Title 9
• Complete timely and appropriate client file documentation, case notes, and file examination
• Complete required annual trainings for Santa Barbara County Dept. of Behavioral Wellness
• Complete documentation accurately, professionally, and within the prescribed time frame
• Maintain effective communication with supervisors, support staff, and external service providers
• Attend staff meetings and all other required meetings
• Complete all required trainings in a timely manner
• Uphold all HIPAA compliance standards
• Collect payment from clients
• Keep abreast of current literature and research in the field of alcoholism and drug addiction/abuse

Schedule

• Part-time, 16 hours per week
• Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm
• In-person position located in Santa Barbara

Pay

Compensation is dependent on prior experience and qualifications, with a salary range of $22–$25 per hour. Rate increase potential for bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates.
