Sawmill Maintenance Manager
Safety and Compliance
Maintains safe maintenance shop operations in compliance with company policies and applicable OSHA and EPA rules and regulations.
Uses shop tools and equipment correctly and safely and instructs staff on the safe use of tools and equipment.
Ensures proper storage and disposal of petroleum products and other regulated materials used in maintenance operations.
Maintenance Planning and Execution
Confers with the Sawmill Manager to schedule equipment release for inspection, service, or repair.
Enforces established inspection, maintenance, and repair procedures for sawmill-related equipment; schedules repairs; assigns and directs service and repair personnel; and follows up on repair completion.
Plans and organizes maintenance work areas to improve efficiency, productivity, housekeeping, and tool and equipment organization.
Performs routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance and repairs on plant equipment as needed.
Responds to plant maintenance emergencies as needed.
Coordination and Resources
Covers the purchase of supplies, tools, machinery, and repair materials with management.
Consults with operating and service personnel regarding equipment replacement needs.
Collaborates with outside repair services when work cannot be performed in-house.
Documentation and Reporting
Investigates and evaluates the cause and extent of damage to equipment involved in incidents or accidents.
Completes maintenance reports, work orders, repair orders, manuals, and related paperwork accurately and on time; provides daily activity updates to the Plant Manager.
Supervision and Training
Trains and advises staff on maintenance diagnostic procedures, equipment use, safe work practices, and repair methods.
Aids in the maintenance and repair of plant facilities and associated equipment, including coordination of contracted maintenance when required.

Education and Experience
Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, plus five years of industrial, plant, sawmill, or equipment maintenance experience and three years of maintenance supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred experience or training in welding, electrical systems, plumbing, industrial maintenance, or related maintenance trades.
