About the role
The Material Process Operator (or Saw Operator) is responsible for cutting raw materials using various metal working machines including CNC cutting in accordance with specifications, tolerances, and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, or tend saws or machines that cut or trim raw materials to specified dimensions.
- Inspect and measure workpieces to mark for cuts and to verify the accuracy of cuts, using rulers, squares, or caliper rules.
- Adjust saw blades, using wrenches and rulers, or by turning handwheels or pressing pedals, levers, or panel buttons.
- Operate and/or use a miter saw, band saw, forklifts, cranes, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, waterjet, plasma, and instruments of measurements.
- Set controls or install programs to adjust speed and feed rate.
- Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct work-piece, using hand tools and measuring devices.
- Inspect stock for imperfections or to estimate grades or qualities of stock or workpieces.
- Examine blueprints, drawings, work orders, or patterns to determine equipment set-up or selection details, procedures to be used, or dimensions of final products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of six months to one-year of related experience and/or training preferred.
- This position may require a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Work Conditions
Environment Type: Indoors. Production and office environment. Temperature controlled, unless products and/or equipment is located outdoors.

Standard work schedule, overtime may be necessary for meeting deadlines, required travel, and emergent conditions.
This position may involve travel up to 5% of the time.
Physical Demands
- Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 pounds or more.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Operate a motor vehicle, forklift, and/or other heavy equipment.
- Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
- Read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and operation of machines.
Schedule
Must be able to work 4:30pm – 1:30am along with any required overtime which may include weekends. Night shift premium offered ($2/hr).
