Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Receives, stores, handles, cuts and ships material to meet shop and customer requirements.
- Loads and unloads material with the aid of a forklift or a remote operated overhead crane, positioning material as required.
- Completes paperwork and inputs information into the computer system, updating inventory.
- Sets up and operates saw, selecting proper feeds and speeds, adjusting as needed.
- Maintains necessary coolant concentration, cleaning or replacing coolant as required.
- Inspects the quality of the material during and after the cut to make sure the piece is square.
- Uses measuring instruments as necessary including but not limited to tape measuring tape and micrometer.
- Checks identification on all material handled by stamping or marking with necessary numbers when required.
- Places saw crop ends in scrap boxes according to material grade.
- Performs saw blade changes when necessary.
- Delivers material to next area of operation as required.
- Completes required production reports, using computer system as required.
- Reports defective material and faulty equipment to the Operations Manager or Maintenance Department immediately.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment and abides by all plant safety regulations and work rules.
- Performs safety inspections on cranes, chains, slings and magnets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
- Shop environment that offers protection from outside environmental conditions.
- Subject to changes in temperature (hot and cold) and humidity.
- Primarily standing or walking, performs medium to heavy work, exerting up to 50+ lbs. of force regularly and/or up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally (with assistance) to move objects.
- Uses both non-powered and hand power tools.
- Exposed to moving objects and occasionally exposed to vibration.
- Frequent fine manual dexterity and multi limb coordination including handling, pinching, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, turning, and bending.
- Assigned duties according to specified procedures.
- Work is checked frequently.
Qualifications
- Working mechanical knowledge/aptitude applicable with experience.
- Able to understand basic correspondence, instructions, rules, policies, graphs, and/or charts.
- Able to learn from written passages by discerning the main idea or key facts.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and use basic numerical concepts (whole numbers, percentages) to complete job tasks.
- Ability to use measuring devices such as tapes and gauges where reading is direct and obvious.
- Vision includes acuity near and far, color, peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Hearing ability to exchange information with co-workers and management should issues with material or equipment be detected.
