Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Adds urgency to and resolves emergency situations, and contacts supervisory staff as necessary; documents all incidents, particularly those involving EMS and police, and disseminates written reports according to agency guidelines.
- Confirms the appropriateness of staff assignments for family visits. Ensures room assignments are in place for family visits and trains staff as needed to arrange appropriate levels of staff coverage for other training sessions, groups, and recreation events.
- Compiles information from social workers and other staff via the "Family Visit Coverage" and "Child Care Summary" forms. Provides Metro Cards for families when needed. In the absence of a form, the Saturday Supervisor conducts follow-up and provides the covering worker with necessary details and provides Metro Cards.
- Introduces covering staff to families and ensures everyone is clear about family visit structure (supervised, unsupervised, monitored) and expectations.
- Provides coverage if no other staff are available, a visit runs late/off schedule, etc.
- When necessary/appropriate, receives and responds to incoming calls during Saturday business hours, including on-call phone calls for Foster Care & Prevention. The Saturday Supervisor either responds or directs the call to the appropriate on-call social worker.
- Unlocks/locks the office and disarms/arms the alarm, as needed.
- Assists with body checks of children in the medical clinic, as needed.
- Assists covering staff, groups, and trainers if they need access to needed items (i.e., tables, easels, TV/DVD, games, snacks, additional clothing, etc.)
- Resolves or refers to transportation related issues as needed
- Contacts building staff and NAC administrators to respond to any safety/security or building issues (i.e. leaking toilets, issues with locks, etc.), and functions as Saturday fire warden
- Debriefs and conducts follow-up with staff as needed. Provides a relevant description of events as needed and documents attendance at visits on the Saturday schedule grid and emails grids to associated staff.
- Significant practical experience and training on how to intervene during crisis situations
- Familiarity with child welfare involves families
- Knowledge of issues related to family visitation
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Experience working with individuals in child welfare preferred
- Master's degree required; MSW with supervisory-level experience preferred.
