SAR Imagery Scientist, Expert

Location: Springfield, VA (NGA) | On-site, no remote work | Full-time, 40 hours per week

About the Role

This position is pending funding and requires an active TS/SCI clearance with the willingness to take a CI polygraph exam. The role involves working on-site in Springfield, Virginia, with a focus on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery science and exploitation.

Requirements

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Master’s Degree OR a Bachelor’s in a STEM field and 17 years of experience OR 21 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient with Python.
• 6+ years of experience as a SAR expert with a deep understanding of collection, phenomenology, image formation process, and exploitation products.
• Experience with SARPy and MATLAB SAR toolbox.
• Experience with RNIIS, information theoretic-based image quality metrics, SAR imagery quality metrics, and sensor metadata (e.g., graze, squint).
• Experience exploiting SAR to determine the occurrence and location of an object of interest (OOI).
• Experience developing, testing, and evaluating new algorithms, processes, methodologies, and products using SAR imagery with tools like Python, MATLAB, and Google Earth Engine.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical SAR capabilities to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Deep understanding of remote sensing principles, imagery processing, and advanced exploitation methods.

Qualifications (Desired)

• Experience applying computer vision (CV) and machine learning to SAR imagery.
