Expert SAR Imagery Scientist
Leverage advanced and specialized physics research expertise to test and analyze physical phenomena, conduct and shape R&D programs, and support S&T client challenges. Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts, and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. Work on unusually complex problems and provide highly innovative solutions. Operate with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision, and mentor or supervise employees in both company and technical competencies.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and evaluate new algorithms, processes, methodologies, and products using SAR imagery with tools such as Python, MATLAB, or Google Earth Engine
- Exploit SAR to determine the occurrence and location of an OOI (Object of Interest)
- Communicate with technical and non-technical audiences about the availability and capabilities of SAR
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience as an SAR Expert, working with collection, phenomenology, image formation process, and exploitation products
- Experience with SARPy and MATLAB SAR toolbox
- Experience with RNIIRS, information theoretic-based image quality metrics, SAR imagery quality metrics, and sensor metadata such as graze or squint
- Knowledge of the principles of remote sensing and imagery processing, and advanced exploitation methods
- Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
- One of the following education/experience combinations:
- Associate's degree and 16+ years of experience with SAR, remote sensing, image processing, or image science
- Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of experience with SAR, remote sensing, image processing, or image science
- Master's degree and 13+ years of experience with SAR, remote sensing, image processing, or image science
- Doctorate degree and 11+ years of experience with SAR, remote sensing, image processing, or image science
- 18+ years of experience with SAR, remote sensing, image processing, or image science in lieu of a degree
Skills
- Experience applying CV (Computer Vision) and machine learning to SAR imagery (preferred)

Pay
Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD).

Work model expectations:
- Remote: Generally remote, but may require occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
- Hybrid: Expected to work from a Booz Allen facility frequently, with potential visits to customer facilities as needed.
