SAP Digital Manufacturing (DM) Functional Consultant

Location: Madison, WI (04 Days Onsite 1 Day Remote) – 6-month contract-to-hire

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SAP Digital Manufacturing (DM) Functional Consultant to lead process mapping, configuration, and integration activities for a manufacturing execution initiative. This role requires deep domain expertise in process and discrete manufacturing within regulated GxP environments, alongside hands-on configuration of SAP DM and end-to-end SAP S/4HANA integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead structured design workshops across Manufacturing, Quality, Production Planning, Warehouse, Regulatory, Validation (CSV), and Master Data teams.
• Map AS-IS paper batch records and manual shop floor steps to TO-BE digital workflows.
• Configure SAP DM plants, work centers, resources, and Production Operator Dashboards (PODs).
• Set up Production Process Design (PPD), Electronic Signatures, Data Collection Groups/Parameters, Work Instructions, and User Roles/Authorizations.
• Model phase-based manufacturing execution, order dispatching, labor tracking, non-conformance management, rework/deviations, scrap handling, and batch genealogy.
• Facilitate seamless integration between SAP DM and SAP S/4HANA for process orders, master recipes, BOMs, inspection plans, material staging, and batch management.
• Align DM-EWM integration and device connectivity (barcodes, scanners, label printing).
• Work with technical teams to configure SAP BTP, SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Integration Suite (CPI), OAuth 2.0 authentication, and event-based APIs.

Requirements

• Strong background in Process and/or Discrete Manufacturing, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Shop Floor Control, Electronic Batch Records (EBR), and strict Regulatory environments (FDA, GxP, ISO 13485).
• Hands-on experience configuring SAP Digital Manufacturing for Execution, including PODs, Production Process Designer (PPD), material consumption/receipt, and operator guidance.
• Practical knowledge of SAP S/4HANA core modules (PP/PP-PI, QM, EWM, PPDS) and connectivity protocols (SAP BTP, CPI, Cloud Connector, REST/OAuth).
• Knowledge of Computer System Validation (CSV) requirements for life sciences or regulated manufacturing settings.
• Excellent facilitation, process documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
