SAP CALM Administrator

About the Role
The SAP Cloud ALM Administrator is the accountable owner for the configuration, governance, and operational health of the SAP Cloud Application Lifecycle Management platform within the SAP Center of Excellence. This role spans all five Cloud ALM capability areas: Administration, Implementation, Transformation, Operations, and Service. Responsibilities include tenant administration, user and access management, landscape connectivity, project governance, and post-go-live monitoring aligned with ITIL and SAP Activate practices. The administrator ensures the platform remains stable, secure, and audit-ready while enabling project teams and operations staff to execute within a governed framework.
Responsibilities
- Core Outcomes:
- Maintain a stable, secure, and well-governed Cloud ALM tenant supporting 1,600+ users
- Ensure reliable landscape connectivity across all managed systems and services
- Manage disciplined user provisioning, role assignment, and access recertification
- Govern project structures, process documentation, and change/deployment pipelines during implementation
- Configure operational monitoring for early warning and actionable alerting post-go-live
- Prepare the platform for audit, compliance, and SOX evidence collection
- Core Platform Scope:
- SAP Cloud ALM (all modules: Administration, Implementation, Transformation, Operations, Service)
- SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) cockpit and Cloud Foundry services
- SAP Identity Authentication Service (IAS)
- Cloud Connector for on-premise system connectivity
- SAP Automation Pilot and SAP Build Process Automation (for auto-remediation workflows)
- All managed systems registered in the Cloud ALM landscape (S/4HANA, CPI, satellite platforms)
- Tenant and Platform Administration:
- Own global administration of the Cloud ALM tenant, including object management, FlexOperator configuration, and tenant-level settings
- Monitor tenant memory consumption and outbound API usage against allocated thresholds
- Activate and maintain audit logging via the SAP Audit Log Viewer service
- Enable and configure email notifications, public view creation, and API enablement in Cloud Foundry
- Create, organize, merge, and centrally manage tags and tag groups for consistent classification
- User and Access Management:
- Onboard and offboard users through Identity Authentication Service (IAS)
- Assign and maintain role collections in the BTP cockpit, process role assignment requests, and manage shadow user provisioning
- Configure advanced access authorizations to restrict object-level access beyond standard roles
- Coordinate periodic access reviews and recertification in alignment with SOX and internal audit requirements
- Maintain the Global Auditor role assignment for audit and compliance purposes
- Landscape Management:
- Register and maintain all managed systems and services within Cloud ALM
- Manage certificates, service keys, and Cloud Connector configurations for on-premise connectivity
- Define and maintain access control rules for landscape objects
- Coordinate certificate rotation, API key lifecycle, and technical user management across connected systems
- Implementation Support:
- Create and configure projects, manage teams and custom roles, define system groups and workstreams, and set project access levels
- Support process management activities including creation of custom solution processes and process flow diagrams
- Administer change and deployment management roles: Change Manager approvals, Deployment Manager transport execution, Developer transport creation, and Retrofit configuration
- Manage requirements, user stories, features, test cases, and defect workflows including approval and sign-off processes
- Create and maintain SAP Readiness Check analyses and follow-up action tracking
- Maintain solution documentation within the platform
- Transformation Support:
- Create and manage transformation projects, define approaches, and manage associated tasks (risks, requirements, defects, quality gates)
- Administer digital blueprints including system scans, analysis files, company code scoping, and transformation object selection
- Create, edit, and version transformation models and support mass edits on transformation objects
- Create and manage migration/conversion cycles including health checks, prevalidation, preparation, postprocessing, and cycle log monitoring
- Run data quality assessments and track data quality metrics ahead of conversion activities
- Operations and Monitoring:
- Configure and maintain business process monitoring including KPI consumption, alert processing, and access group restrictions
- Create and manage business services, plan maintenance events, and manage event definitions
- Configure health monitoring settings, define thresholds, and establish alert rules across all connected cloud services
- Set up integration and exception monitoring for CPI, Event Mesh, AIF, and third-party interfaces including IDOC volume thresholds and alert routing
- Administer configuration and security analysis for compliance and security posture reviews
- Configure job and automation monitoring including integration with SAP Automation Pilot and SAP Build Process Automation
- Manage Real User Monitoring (RUM) and Synthetic User Monitoring configurations for end-user performance tracking and proactive availability testing
- Service Delivery Coordination:
- Maintain tenant mapping and service information within the Service Delivery Center
- Manage preparation tasks, issues, and actions tied to SAP service engagements
- Generate PDF reports for service results and maintain status tracking for service delivery activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience administering SAP Cloud ALM, SAP Solution Manager, or comparable ALM platforms
- Strong understanding of SAP BTP, Identity Authentication Service (IAS), and Cloud Foundry administration
- Working knowledge of ITIL-based service management processes, particularly incident, change, and problem management
- Experience managing user provisioning, role-based access control, and audit compliance in enterprise platforms
- Ability to coordinate across project teams, functional pillars, and vendor partners without owning functional configuration
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP Cloud ALM certification or SAP Activate methodology training
- ITIL Foundation certification or higher
- Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA RISE Private Cloud environments
- Hands-on experience with SAP CPI, integration monitoring, and transport management
- Background in distribution, logistics, finance, or high-volume transaction environments
- Familiarity with SOX compliance, audit evidence collection, and security review processes
