Responsibilities

  • Handle all aspects of the pot and pan cleaning process according to department standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Set up and close down the pot and pan area following established department and regulatory processes.
  • Clean, sanitize, air-dry, and put away all pots, pans, and serving utensils as per department and regulatory processes.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion; notify supervisor of any safety hazards.
  • Document sanitizer solutions as specified in department standards.
  • Clean and sanitize all assigned equipment in the food service department and maintain overall kitchen cleanliness according to departmental procedures and schedules.
  • Sweep and mop assigned areas of the food service operation.
  • Remove trash and grease bins as assigned.
  • Pick up daily supply of clean rags.
  • Adhere to department safety, sanitation, service, and communication standards.
  • Practice safety and sanitation techniques that meet department standards, including correct body mechanics.
  • Utilize all chemicals according to departmental and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Follow a "clean as you go" approach in daily tasks.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and clarity in both verbal and written communications.
  • Demonstrate sound decision-making and take responsibility for decisions.
  • Attend meetings, in-services, and training sessions.
  • Complete CBT, flu shot, and other hospital requirements.
  • Follow hospital and department dress codes.
  • Perform additional or other duties as assigned based on department needs (e.g., dish room).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred (training available for those with no experience).

Skills

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as related to essential job activities.
  • Effective communication skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Exposed to extreme temperature changes, including heat from the pot room.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; for lifts over 35 pounds, use lifting equipment or assistance from another associate.
  • Frequent bending and lifting related to essential job activities.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
