About the role

Perform standard cleaning procedures on food processing equipment and utensils, and maintain the interior and exterior of the building according to standards for food manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard cleaning procedures as documented and trained for equipment and facilities, including disassembly/assembly, application of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, scrubbing, and rinsing.
  • Use personal protective equipment as required for each cleaning task.
  • Combine and mix required cleaning agents as documented for each cleaning assignment, following correct handling procedures.
  • Understand safe operation of equipment, including safety devices and guards, and follow correct lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and complete required paperwork for daily and Master Sanitation programs.
  • Collect and remove trash from production, packaging lines, kitchen, and warehouse areas; dispose of trash and recycle materials appropriately.
  • Notify the Sanitation Team Leader or on-duty mechanic of any malfunctioning equipment immediately.
  • Inspect each cleaning job upon completion to ensure it meets standards; correct any substandard conditions.
  • Comply with rules and regulations in Amy’s Kitchen employee handbook, safety manual, and GMP booklet.
  • Be certified to operate a forklift and scissors lift.
  • Monitor and understand water usage.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Uphold the mission of Amy’s Food Safety and Quality Policy, including following all Food Safety and Sustainability programs and participating in required training.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and identify chemical labels and fill out applicable forms.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Frequently required to walk on wet floors, use ladders and stairs, handle cleaning chemicals, and work in wet, warm, hot, cold, or humid environments.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds and push/pull heavy equipment (e.g., foamers, carts, pumps).
  • Must be able to work around moving mechanical parts, strong cleaning chemicals, and in high places while wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in loud environments (e.g., tray washers, fans, steam noise).
