About the Role

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, production areas, and facility surfaces in a manufacturing plant. This role ensures compliance with food safety standards, supports production readiness, and maintains a hygienic environment. Shift Time: 8:00pm - 8:30am, 2 days on - 2 days off - 3 days on.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize equipment including vats, presses, cutters, conveyors, and packaging machines
  • Perform Clean-in-Place (CIP) and Clean-Out-of-Place (COP) procedures using appropriate chemical concentrations and temperatures
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment for thorough cleaning
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, drains, ceilings, and overhead piping
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and complete sanitation logs
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and company sanitation protocols
  • Safely handle and store cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Identify and report equipment damage or sanitation issues
  • Participate in continuous improvement and safety programs
  • Complete tasks according to the Master Sanitation Schedule

Qualifications & Education

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma required
  • Minimum (1) one year of sanitation experience in food manufacturing preferred; dairy or cheese experience a plus
  • Ability to work in wet, humid, and cold environments
  • HACCP and GMP training
  • Forklift certification
  • Experience with CIP systems
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Familiarity with sanitation chemicals and safety data sheets (SDS)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and climbing on ladders and in confined spaces
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role involves working in various environments, including:

  • Office environment, usually quiet
  • Plant and warehouse workspaces, which may include:
    • Frequently standing, walking, sitting, talking, or hearing
    • Working around loud machinery and moving parts
    • Continually utilizing hand and finger dexterity
    • Exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather)
    • Occasionally climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, and exposure to outside weather conditions
    • Pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds safely
