About the role
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Sanitation Tech to perform a variety of cleaning duties to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly environment across assigned facilities. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the overall appearance and sanitation of the workplace, contributing to a positive experience for employees, clients, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize equipment and workspace in a designated area of the plant
- Work cooperatively with leads and management to ensure all 7 steps of sanitation procedures are followed
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies, and ensure hygiene standards are met
- Empty trash and recycling bins and waste in accordance with company policies
- Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces
- Maintain and store cleaning equipment and supplies properly
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the supervisor
- Assist with setup and cleanup for meetings, events, or special projects as needed
- Follow all safety procedures and company protocols related to cleaning and sanitation
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing floors and surfaces
- Use Lock-out tag-out (“LOTO”)
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 0-1 year of experience in the Food Processing industry or another heavy industry field
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be legally employable in the United States
- Must project a professional appearance and attitude
- Bi-lingual is a plus (English/Spanish)
- Safety awareness and attention to detail is mandatory
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Must be able to lift 15 lbs. to 50 lbs.
- Be able to communicate with team members, company managers and customer staff
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or general cleaning roles is a plus
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Physical demands
- Frequently lift hoses, equipment, and chemical containers
- All night standing, lifting, and crouching for periods at a time
- Exposure to chemicals (with PPE required for the task)
- Wear employer-specified personal protective equipment (“PPE”) such as gloves, face shield, eye goggles, aprons, boots, safety glasses, etc.
- Work in extreme temperature fluctuations
- Work scheduled shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
- Work in all environmental conditions that exist in food processing plants (hot, cold, loud and wet)
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
Core competencies
- Must be willing to work with a sense of urgency
- Capable of following all seven steps of sanitation with detailed supervision
- Understanding and compliance with all safety policies covered during training
- Understanding of chemical types, labeling, PPE and warnings regarding mixing chemicals
- Dependability in both arriving and completing the work shift and compliance with attendance policy
