Job Summary
The Plant Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for implementing the Sanitation program, ensuring compliance with Food Safety Standards, and training sanitation employees.
Job Duties
- Aid in the development and maintenance of Sanitation programs (HACCP, Allergen, etc.) for various products in compliance with customer and government regulations.
- Assist with consumer complaint issues and lead plant teams to minimize complaints.
- Develop and maintain Sanitation procedures and paperwork.
- Work closely with the Plant Manager, Quality Manager, and Sanitation Manager.
- Identify and address sanitation or regulatory issues within the facility.
- Ensure the facility is prepared for Third Party or Customer inspections.
- Manage the Master Sanitation Schedule and lead Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Control and manage the Sanitation budget.
- Supervise Sanitation chemical suppliers and staff.
- Collaborate with the Product Safety Auditor to identify and correct sanitation or environmental issues.
- Ensure all chemicals used in the plant are approved and have current MSDS information.
- Perform dilution testing of all chemicals requiring dilution.
- Train all aspects of plant clean-up.
- Manage the Pest Control Program.
Required Competencies & Knowledge
- Knowledge of legal requirements for the food industry, including GMP’s, FDA, MDA, HACCP, Allergens, and BRC.
- Understanding of 10 principles of sanitary equipment design.
- Knowledge of commercial bakeries and bakery equipment, as well as the functionality of ingredients in the bakery process and their relation to possible insect development.
- Good record in developing and maintaining programs and handling conflicts with a positive and practical attitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer literacy, self-motivation, and ability to make sound business decisions.
- Strong motivational and people skills.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and SAP.
Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Sanitation preferred, but work experience in food or pharmaceutical industries is acceptable.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in the food or pharmaceutical industry.
- This is a flexible schedule with primary shifts typically being 3rd shift.
- Training will be provided during first shift.
Work Environment
- Primarily works on the manufacturing floor.
- Frequent exposure to production environments including noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, and temperature fluctuations.
