Sanitation Supervisor

Clemens Food Group is seeking a Sanitation Supervisor to lead and develop our Ready-to-Eat sanitation team. This role ensures that all production areas, equipment, machinery, tools, and food contact surfaces are cleaned, sanitized, verified, and ready for production. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, schedule, train, coach, and develop sanitation team members to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant cleaning activities.
  • Oversee sanitation processes, including cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, machinery, tools, work areas, and facilities to prevent contamination and protect product integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, USDA requirements, GMPs, HACCP, SSOPs, safety protocols, and sanitation best practices.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and pre-op/post-op reviews to verify sanitation effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate sanitation documentation, including cleaning schedules, inspection reports, pre-op records, corrective actions, chemical concentration logs, and training records.
  • Train team members on proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout, and food safety expectations.
  • Partner with FSQA, Production, Maintenance, Safety, USDA, sanitation vendors, and chemical suppliers to resolve sanitation concerns and support audit readiness.
  • Respond quickly to sanitation emergencies, spills, contamination concerns, pre-op failures, or other sanitation-related issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement in sanitation routines, documentation accuracy, team accountability, chemical usage, and production start-up readiness.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of sanitation or related experience in food production, meat processing, protein, Ready-to-Eat, USDA-regulated, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • 1–2 years of leadership experience in sanitation, production, FSQA, operations, or a related function.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation principles, food safety regulations, GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP concepts, chemical handling, and sanitation documentation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ready-to-Eat meat or protein processing experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
  • HACCP/SQF/PCQI/ServSafe or sanitation-related certification.
  • Experience with Master Sanitation Schedules, corrective actions, root cause analysis, environmental monitoring, or audit preparation.
