About the role

A Sanitation Supervisor enforces policies and procedures surrounding food safety and hygiene. They examine manufacturing equipment to ensure it meets governmental standards and develop plans to correct violations. They consult with management to address compliance issues and improve processes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the sanitation process
  • Ensure health and safety guidelines are followed and continually improved
  • Maintain detailed records of sanitation activities and issues
  • Manage adherence to prescribed procedures to ensure quality meets or exceeds goals
  • Develop and track improvement in the use and efficiency of sanitation labor resources
  • Coordinate setup and implement standard operating procedures for key sanitation operations
  • Ensure sanitation does not detract from product quality and timeliness
  • Work with Quality Manager/Supervisor to ensure adequate processes are capable and improving
  • Ensure human resources and material resources (chemicals, tools, etc.) are available
  • Work with Maintenance, Quality, and Production to ensure sanitation-related equipment PM’s are completed on time
  • Ensure complete compliance to GMP’s and 5S processes
  • Estimate labor and operational costs for ongoing operations and new projects
  • Monitor and adjust sanitation processes as needed
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through change management and best practices
  • Liaise among different departments, including other departments, corporate resources, other plants, suppliers, etc.
  • Optimize resource utilization by implementing an effective sanitation organization
  • Coach and develop teams and other key resources to meet business objectives
  • Supervise and motivate teams of workers
  • Review the performance of subordinates
  • Responsible for titration testing of all chemicals needing titration

Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of sanitation, food safety, or quality supervisory experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment
  • Large scale manufacturing experience a plus
  • Results-oriented, possess strong interpersonal skills, be a team player, and have strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess leadership skills and appropriate technical skills in a high-speed manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing techniques and related CI tools, such as Root Cause Analysis, Agile, Kaizen Events, Blitz, Value Stream Mapping, OEE, First Hour Full Power, Labor Analysis, 5S, 7 Forms of Waste, Pit Stop Changeovers, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and able to learn associated corporate enterprise software systems to analyze and track data
  • Demonstrated experience training teams
  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) knowledge required
  • Experience with SQF or BRC audit prep and ATP swab experience a plus
