About the Role

The Sanitation Supervisor / Manager will manage the Sanitation functions at the Food Business Unit's Reno, NV manufacturing facility. This position focuses on providing sanitation, cGMP, and microbiological expertise to the Plant Management Team. As part of the Plant Quality Team, this role establishes, maintains, and continuously improves policies and procedures to ensure robust cleaning and sanitation programs. The position supports all departments, including quality, operations, maintenance, engineering, logistics, and learning management, with a focus on preventing contamination and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure plant cleaning and sanitation procedures are effective and efficient, providing operational support and analytical problem-solving.
  • Perform plant environmental and sanitation audits and testing, and manage the plant master sanitation schedule (MSS).
  • Ensure documentation adherence and compliance with federal regulations.
  • Manage 3rd party suppliers, including chemical and pest control services, with the sanitation team reporting to this position.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for site sanitation roles, identifying gaps and developing long- and short-term development plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the Sanitation function by identifying and resolving gaps in systems, tools, and processes.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for key Sanitation processes to ensure they are effectively managed, standardized, maintained, and improved.
  • Ensure plant personnel are appropriately trained on sanitation methods and approve cleaning and sanitation validation for new equipment, products, and processes.
  • Provide strategic leadership and functional vision to develop plant and quality journey milestones, identifying leverage points to drive sanitation improvements.
  • Foster a strong food safety culture, emphasizing that food safety is everyone’s responsibility and ensuring compliance with food safety and GMP requirements.
  • Lead processes to improve sanitation by establishing credibility with the business management team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in FDA-regulated industries (Cosmetics, Food, or Beverage) in a combination of Quality and/or Sanitation, with direct manufacturing, operations, sanitation, and product testing preferred.
  • FDA audit experience.
  • Sanitarian certification preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of cGMPs, FDA regulations, microbiology, and analytical testing.
  • Knowledge of government regulatory documentation requirements for Food Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of sanitation practices and procedures in an FDA-regulated plant, including microbiology, pathogen environmental monitoring, and analytical testing methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, issue resolution, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal business communication skills.
  • Strong independent leadership skills.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and project management skills.
  • Proven experience on cross-functional teams (R&D, Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Technical Services).
  • Highly flexible and adaptable; able to work independently in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
  • Flexible work schedule, including some weekend work.
  • Ability to travel if necessary.
  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education/industry experience indicating an ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.

Workplace

Onsite - 5 days a week at the Reno, NV manufacturing facility.

Pay

The salary range for this role in the U.S. is based on work location and aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area:

  • Zone A: $90,900 - $170,100
  • Zone B: $83,400 - $155,900
  • Zone C: $75,800 - $141,700

All ranges are subject to change. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience, and location. This role is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans.
