Job Summary

The Plant Sanitation Lead is responsible for executing the Sanitation program, ensuring all current Food Safety Standards are met, and training employees to identify and control GMP issues.

Job Duties

  • Determines safe chemical handling, PPE use, and human safety issues related to sanitation activities.
  • Develops and maintains Sanitation programs (FSMA, MSS, etc.) for various products in compliance with customer and government regulations.
  • Manages consumer complaint issues and leads teams to minimize complaints.
  • Develops and implements Sanitation procedures and paperwork.
  • Communicates Sanitation issues to the Sanitation Manager, Plant Manager, and/or all Production and Sanitation Staff.
  • Ensures facility readiness for Third Party, Customer, or Regulatory inspections.
  • Manages the Master Sanitation Schedule and identifies Continuous Improvement opportunities.
  • Performs pre-operational inspections and maintains supply inventories.
  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance Department to address sanitation or environmental issues.
  • Trains employees on proper sanitation methods.
  • Performs dilution testing of all chemicals as required.
  • Identifies and corrects sanitation or environmental issues at assigned facility.
  • Works in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, moving machinery, and chemicals.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Understands the seven steps of cleaning and sanitizing for wet or dry facilities.
  • Understands the Master Sanitation Plan for the facility.
  • Has a good understanding of plant GMPs.
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of PPE, chemical safety, and machinery used in plant areas.
  • Handles conflicts positively and makes sound food safety decisions.
  • Communicates effectively verbally and in writing, is computer literate, self-motivated, and able to make sound food safety decisions.
  • Works well with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Excel and email correspondence.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in a sanitation or food safety role.
