About the role

The Sanitation Crew Lead is a hands-on working lead who directs and participates in sanitation activities during the assigned shift. This position serves as the primary point of contact for the sanitation crew, plans and assigns work, monitors progress, responds to staffing and operational issues, works with Quality Assurance to verify completion of required sanitation activities, and ensures the facility is prepared for safe and timely production start-up. The role operates in a wet, humid, and physically demanding food-manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs hands-on cleaning and sanitation duties alongside the sanitation crew while providing day-to-day work directions.
  • Responds to absences, staffing shortages, delayed production shutdowns, equipment problems, and other shift disruptions by reallocating labor and communicating necessary escalations.
  • Serves as the primary sanitation contact during the shift and provides a complete handoff to incoming management.
  • Leads and supervises a team of sanitation workers to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the production environment.
  • Ensures required sanitation records and chemical checks are accurate and complete.
  • Trains new sanitation workers on proper cleaning procedures and safety protocols.
  • Collaborates with the production supervisor for equipment priority setting.
  • Promotes and adheres to company safety work rules and regulations.
  • Works closely with the Manager to identify performance, attendance, conduct, or training concerns and documents and escalates them according to company procedures.
  • Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Helps build and promote a strong “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months – 1 year+ of sanitation experience in food manufacturing or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role.
  • Coachable and reliable.
  • Preferred experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Ability to communicate and train effectively across varied language, literacy, cultural, and experience backgrounds.

  • Collaboration with production teams to integrate sanitation into the overall process.

Schedule

Sunday – Thursday, 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM. Occasional overtime on Fridays, if needed.

Pay

$23.88/hour + $1.00/hour shift differential.
