The Sanitation Crew Member is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and food-grade manufacturing environment by performing thorough cleaning and sanitizing of production equipment, processing areas, and facility spaces within the Ice Cream Plant. This role plays a critical part in ensuring food safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance by following established sanitation procedures, safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
About the Role
This role works closely with production and sanitation leadership to ensure the facility remains audit-ready at all times, supporting continuous operations in a cold, wet, and industrial environment typical of frozen dairy manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the plant is audit-ready at all times by foaming, scrubbing, and sanitizing the outside of all equipment, tanks, stairs, walls, floors, baseboards, handrails, sinks, drains, and trash cans throughout the plant.
- Assists production staff with cleaning up major projects as needed.
- Helps maintain the cleanliness of infrastructure up to plant standards.
- Responsible for the daily exterior cleaning of machinery.
- Ensures different rooms are cleaned throughout the plant by scrubbing, sweeping, wiping, etc.
- Takes direction from the Sanitation Supervisor to resolve sanitation-related issues.
- Works with Production and co-workers to meet sanitation schedules while maximizing productivity.
- Analyzes and resolves sanitation work problems or assists workers in solving sanitation work problems.
- Responsible for keeping outside grounds cleaned all year round.
- Clean common and office areas on occasion.

Qualifications
- Required: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent work-related experience
- Dairy or food plant experience preferred
- Knowledge of sanitation operations; maintains knowledge of current and developing sanitation techniques
- Knowledge of HACCP
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
