About the role

The Sanitation Attendant I is an entry-level position that works under direct supervision, following prescribed procedures in the packing plant to learn the fundamentals of processing plant sanitation. This role may also assist the processing team with packaging until the end of the shift before transitioning to cleaning and sanitation duties. The position is critical for maintaining food safety and quality for all eggs produced and sold.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize the egg grader, packing room, cooler, and dry storage warehouse.
• Sanitize the egg washing area, including conveyors, washers, blowers, egg inspection units, walls, floors, and drains.
• Sanitize the egg grader, including egg baskets, brush area, and covers/doors.
• Sanitize the packer area, including rollers, egg holders, conveyors, machine framework, floors, and drains.
• Review the daily sanitation report and implement corrective actions during the next sanitation period.
• Meet or exceed department standards without sacrificing quality or personal safety.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and encourage team safety.
• Assist with packaging eggs, ensuring products are in the correct cartons/cases/carts and monitoring for valid dates (sell-by, use-by, and packaging dates).
• Comply with Kreher’s policies, work rules, and federal/state laws.
• Learn the proper operation of basic warehouse equipment and machinery.
• Perform other job duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of work experience, preferably in a food processing plant.
• Knowledge and experience in the use of basic hand tools.
• Ability to be a good team player while working with others.
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
• Desire to learn and develop knowledge and skills.
• Flexibility with working schedule—employees may need to work longer or shorter hours to meet operational needs.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly required to sit, talk, see, and hear.
• Stand and walk, often for long periods of time.
• Lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Verbally communicate in a concise manner.
• Work long and irregular hours.
• Work in a high-stress environment with full responsibility for egg processing operations.
• Frequent exposure to high noise levels, dust, dirt, and machinery associated with a processing plant.
