About the role
Charlie’s Produce is a privately owned wholesale produce company located on the West Coast. We are the largest privately owned produce wholesaler in the area and are committed to hiring the best people to support our mission of enhancing communities through quality produce.
Responsibilities
- General housekeeping tasks including sweeping floors, cleaning up debris, standing water, breaking down boxes, recycling, scheduled cleaning of freezer, ripening chambers, restrooms, and lunchroom.
- Using a forklift to empty garbage and check for pest control issues.
- Completing the daily SQF inspection log.
- Communicating any issues to the QA and Food Safety Officer.
- Maintaining HACCP standards under the supervision of the QA and Food Safety Officer.
- Using cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, sponges, scrubbers, etc.
- Absorbing and assisting in the training of new hires.
- Reading, writing, and speaking English adequately to maintain food safety documentation and logs.
- Performing lifting tasks up to 70 lbs, 35-50 lbs on average, working in refrigerated environments up to 85% of the time, and working in freezer environments with below zero temperatures for up to 30 minutes at a time.
- Assisting in maintaining safe use of industrial grade cleaners and wearing appropriate protective gear.
- Working independently and communicating issues effectively.
Requirements
- Able to lift up to 70 lbs, 35-50 lbs on average.
- Safe use of industrial grade cleaners.
- Wear latex and rubber gloves as needed.
- Read, write, and speak English adequately.
- One year of previous warehouse or janitorial experience preferred.
- Forklift and pallet jack experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must be able to work in a safety-sensitive position.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various temperature conditions.
- Knowledge of food safety and HACCP standards.
