About the role
The Sanitation Associate is responsible for all activities involved in maintaining the cleanliness and food safe environment of the Processing facility, surrounding area and equipment. The primary purpose of this job is to perform daily sanitation of all processing lines. Receives direction concerning sanitation activities in conjunction with the company’s Vision, Mission and Values.
Responsibilities
- Promote a safe work environment through knowledge of the sanitation program and commitment to a safe workplace for all; ensure safety is a priority in day-to-day functions.
- Ensure food safety and food defense in the plant.
- Implement all GMP and HACCP procedures that relate to cleanliness, food safety and pest control within the facility.
- Maintain a supply of cleaning chemicals necessary for the operation of the cleaning program and in compliance with OSHA and FDA regulations.
- Apply best practices and safety, interpret SDS information, and use required personal protective equipment (safety glasses or goggles, chemical-safety gloves, aprons, suits, rubber boots, safety helmet, hairnet and uniform).
- Follow LOTO (Lock Out or Tag Out) procedures to isolate equipment energy before cleaning.
- Perform duties at various heights.
- Follow and comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and other departments.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance as well as changeovers.
- Follow all safety rules, policies, procedures and regulations.
- Attend all company training sessions and team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Flexible schedule, including variable start times and weekend work (holidays).
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
- Manual and finger dexterity.
- Ability to work in a noisy environment for the length of the shift; must always wear ear protection.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Reach above shoulder height.
- Physical demands include sitting, bending, twisting, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, pushing/pulling, and walking for the length of the shift.
Work Environment
This job operates in a production environment. The employee is frequently exposed to facility elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
