Job Summary

The Hospital Sanitation Specialist is responsible for the removal and transport of all recycling and waste which includes solid waste, regulated medical waste, universal waste, pharmaceutical, and RCRA/hazardous waste.

What you will do:

  • Familiarize and adhere to policies related to storage, handling, and disposal of RMW (regulated medical waste), RCRA/Hazmat, solid waste, and universal waste.
  • Maintain DOT and Hazardous Waste training.
  • Clean waste holding and storage areas regularly.
  • Deliver clean linen to appropriate locations and remove soiled linens as needed.
  • Help with the cleaning and preparing rooms before and after patients are discharged from the hospital.
  • Be familiar with safety and sanitation requirements of a healthcare facility.
  • Appropriately utilize various supplies and resources to maintain a clean environment for all staff, patients, and visitors within the hospital.
  • Store, handle, and dispose of materials and supplies used to perform your duties within the hospital and industry standards.
  • Interact with patients, families, visitors, and other hospital staff as you perform your duties.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent preferred
  • Experience in a healthcare setting highly preferred
  • At least 1 year of professional housekeeping or janitor experience preferred
