About the Role

Pilgrim’s is a leading global provider of high-quality food products, including well-recognized brands and value-added premium products. As one of the world’s largest poultry producers, Pilgrim’s has provided wholesome, quality products to customers and consumers for more than seven decades. The Arcadia, WI location employs approximately 500 team members and works with 150 local growers.

The Back-Up Sanitation Process Lead provides first-level supervision, exercising independent judgment to achieve department goals in safety, quality, and efficiency. This role is responsible for ensuring the entire plant is thoroughly cleaned on time and approved by USDA for production operations. This position is designed as a career path to higher supervisory roles within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Uses independent judgment to provide instruction and work direction to team members supervised.
  • Trains and motivates team members to achieve maximum quality and productivity performance levels.
  • Directs and monitors the operations of the department, making recommendations and implementing process improvements.
  • Promotes department and company goodwill through proactive team member communication.
  • Supports the new hire training program and maintains open communication to support a union-free status.
  • Schedules people, materials, and equipment to efficiently utilize departmental resources.
  • Ensures company policies and procedures are followed, including safety, quality, and personnel standards.
  • Enforces corrective action procedures, including verbal counseling, written warnings, and suspensions if necessary.
  • Monitors, maintains, and approves team members’ time and attendance using the Kronos Time Keeping System.
  • Prepares and issues performance appraisals after review with the Supervisor.
  • Performs quality checks to maintain quality standards and correct deficiencies to prevent product contamination.
  • Recognizes safety hazards, performs safety audits, and assists with accident investigations.
  • Maintains records of department activities, including daily evaluation sheets and other reports.
  • Completes all daily checklists/tasks and monitors performance of department team members.
  • Attends and participates in meetings on a regular basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of sanitation operations.
  • Ability to read and write English for record-keeping purposes.
  • Working knowledge of supervisory management practices and principles.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal directions.
  • Effective communication skills to maintain harmony with coworkers.
  • Skill in making department decisions.
  • Completion of Lockout/Tagout training and awareness of related safety requirements.
  • Bilingual skills in languages used within the department preferred.

Pay

This position starts at $24.71/hour, with a $1.00/hour shift differential.
