Sandy Recreation Center Facilities Maintenance Crew Leader

About the role

Under direct supervision of the Sandy Recreation Center Manager, supervises, performs and coordinates maintenance and repair of the facilities at the Sandy Recreation Center.

Minimum requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years additional formal education or training in facility maintenance, construction and/or related field preferred
• Two years of experience in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, mechanical building maintenance with two years supervisory is preferred
• May substitute any equivalent/combination of education and experience
• Must possess a valid Utah Driver's license
• Must obtain and maintain Aquatic Facility Operator or equivalent certification within 1 year of hire
• A one-year probationary period is a prerequisite to this position

Knowledge and skills

• Knowledge of cleaning techniques; safety practices SDS and OSHA regulations; grounds maintenance practices; customer service techniques; carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, HVAC systems and related building trades
• Understanding of pool safety and operation of liquid chlorination system, pool pumps, filtration system, electrical switching equipment
• Great responsibility for the care, condition and use of materials, equipment, money, tools, etc.
• Great responsibility for making decisions affecting the activities of people including responsibility for worker motivation and satisfaction; responsibility for assigned part-time and seasonal employees
• Ability to communicate effectively using excellent written, speaking, and listening skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public
• Contact with other departments furnishing and obtaining information; contact requiring discretion and judgement to avoid friction; outside contact with public presenting data; frequent contact on matters requiring explanations and discussions

Pay and status

• Starting salary: $51,844–$77,792 annually
