About the role

The Sander I position at Klein Tools involves operating a belt sander to remove burs from forgings, adhering to quality standards, and reporting production and quality issues to supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate a belt sander to remove burs from forgings
• Visually inspect products to ensure quality standards are met
• Inform supervision of any production or quality problems
• Maintain minimum standard rate to meet demand and create efficiencies
• Report daily count of production parts, scrap, and labor hours by completing required paperwork
• Replace sandpaper as needed
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area following 6S standards
• Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work

Requirements

• High School Diploma (GED)
• Familiarity with OSHA rules and regulations
• Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Experience using a belt sander a plus
• Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Basic math skills
• Ability to work well with others
• Ability to recognize and report safety hazards

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per day
• Perform repetitive hand and arm movements throughout the shift
• Bend and twist the neck and waist intermittently
• Push and pull assisted loads as needed
• Lift up to 45 pounds
• Work in a manufacturing environment that is hot, loud, dirty, and fast-paced

Pay

Pay Range: $16.50 – $32.00 per hour (all employees start at $16.50 with well-defined opportunities for income growth)

Schedule

Four-day work week (Monday-Thursday)
