About the role

San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) is seeking individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those experiencing housing instability and homelessness. Our team is dedicated to providing innovative solutions and support to our community members.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration of rental assistance programs
  • Manage the rental assistance wait list portal
  • Engage with current rental assistance participants to provide support and resources
  • Support the development and implementation of affordable housing initiatives
  • Collaborate with landlords and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and effective tenant protections
  • Work with developers to secure funding and develop affordable housing projects
  • Provide guidance and resources to first-time homebuyers and single-family homeowners
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state housing regulations
  • Contribute to the success of SDHC's Homelessness Solutions program
  • Support the SDHC's efforts to increase access to affordable housing options

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, public policy, urban planning)
  • At least 2 years of experience in housing-related fields
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with data management and analysis

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

  • Homeless services and outreach
  • Rental assistance programs
  • Affordable housing development
  • Tenant rights and protections

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Pay

Salary range: $45,000 - $65,000 annually

Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
