Sample Inventory and Logistics Associate

Description

The Sample Inventory and Logistics Associate is responsible for managing all packages entering and exiting the B2S Life Sciences workplace. This includes packaging and labeling outgoing packages, unpacking and verifying incoming packages, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

• Packages are reliably received and dispatched during B2S standard business hours, which are 0830 to 1630.
• Enters material received from internal and external customers into the inventory management system for accurate tracking.
• Inputs and tracks valuable information in the inventory management system to ensure compliance with processes and procedures, such as expiration dates.
• Prepares and aliquots materials for internal use or long-term storage.
• Maintains accurate documentation of materials shipped and received.
• Works with each department to reconcile all deliveries, ensuring accurate receipt of shipments.
• Unpacks, examines, and verifies incoming shipments against manifests.
• Ensures compliance with B2S Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for labeling and storing shipments.
• Rejects damaged items, records shortages, and communicates with Purchasing Group to resolve issues.
• Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the Department Supervisor.
• Orders shipping materials as needed and prepares appropriate packing for outgoing shipments.
• Performs quality control checks for shipment activities.
• Uses internal and external software to ship and track incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Collects and organizes mailings and shipments.
• Completes final inspections as per shipping instructions and relevant SOPs.
• Updates and maintains logistics policies and procedures.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, following prescribed safety regulations.
• Communicates accurately and promptly with each department and regulatory bodies.
• Maintains confidentiality and a working understanding of export, import, and domestic & foreign customs regulations, including IDOT and IATA.
• Maintains equipment used in shipping and receiving, including printers, label makers, temperature-controlled cabinets, shipping scales, etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, and one year of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• International Air Transport Association (IATA) and IDOT training is required and may be provided upon hire.
• Attention to detail, computer software skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, SharePoint, and Paylocity, a working knowledge of shipping carriers, Harmonized System (HS) Codes, and shipping and transportation of hazardous goods.
• The ability to ensure accurate and timely information gathering and communication with each department and regulatory body, maintain confidentiality, and stay up to date with domestic and international regulations related to shipping company products.
• A working knowledge of laboratory safety controls, including engineering controls, administrative controls, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• The ability to develop positive working relationships and interact effectively with clients and colleagues, exercise independent judgment within established protocols and guidelines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and document daily work accurately and promptly.
• The ability to remain calm, perform duties, problem-solve, and make sound and rational decisions, and manage personal protective equipment in designated lab areas.

Qualifications
