About the Role

The Sample Control Technician I logs and tracks the receipt and shipment of all samples into and out of the Service Center. This role assists in preparing bottle kits for client delivery, ensures accurate documentation of sample log-in, labeling, and routing, and determines sample priority and testing procedures according to Chain of Custody. Additional responsibilities may include sample pick-up/delivery, customer service, and courier duties to support laboratory and client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and unloads incoming samples or consignments in accordance with DOT regulations and verifies receipt against Chain of Custody (COC), matching it to the corresponding quote and noting discrepancies daily.
  • Verifies that COCs are accurate, complete, and correct, and seeks resolution for those that are not.
  • Logs samples into the Lab Management System daily to assign a lot number for tracking and distributes paperwork to Project Managers.
  • Labels samples for identification by lot number and delivers them to appropriate labs for analysis daily.
  • Prepares bottle kits daily for shipment to clients to collect samples, ensuring compliance with EPA and DOT requirements.
  • Forwards samples to other laboratories in accordance with DOT regulations as needed for tests not performed locally.
  • Disposes of spent samples, waste, and other potentially hazardous materials following established procedures.
  • Monitors freezer and cooler temperatures daily to confirm readings are within SOP guidelines.
  • Cleans and organizes the department daily to promote a safe work environment and smoother operations.
  • Maintains and promotes safety, conducting all operations in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.
  • Stocks and supplies inventory daily and assists with inventory management to maintain proper quantities.
  • Performs splits and composites as needed upon request.
  • May perform courier duties, including sample pick-up and delivery, in compliance with all driver procedures and company policies.
  • Must be willing to be on-call during non-business hours for non-routine sampling and delivery.
  • Assists in the maintenance of walk-in coolers to facilitate locating samples.
  • Ships empty coolers back to clients and other Eurofins Environment Testing Laboratories and logs all outgoing coolers for inventory tracking.
  • Maintains company vehicles used for sample pickups and deliveries.
  • Conducts all client interactions in a professional manner.
  • Performs other job duties as determined by local management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Certificate may be required for shipping hazardous chemicals within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license to operate company vehicles.
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle background check as required for company driver certification.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card and TSA clearance may be required within 90 days of hire.
  • Additional client or location licenses or certifications may be required to support operational needs.
  • May drive for long periods, up to 8 hours per day.

Schedule

The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with overtime as needed.

Pay

Compensation range: $16 - $20 per hour (DOE).
