SALT Senior Manager
About the role
Rehmann’s state and local tax (SALT) team helps clients achieve increased cash flow and a healthier bottom line by reviewing current operations and exemptions, negotiating with state tax authorities, and monitoring legislative changes.
Responsibilities
- Impact clients through review of current operations and exemptions
- Negotiate with state tax authorities to limit assessments
- Provide penalty waiver applications
- Monitor and navigate legislative changes
- Prepare a broad range of individual, corporate, and other entity tax returns
- Conduct tax research to develop solutions for clients
- Coach and train entry-level accounting professionals
- Mentor associates to help them reach their career goals
- Introduce other Rehmann specialists to existing clients
- Make a difference in the communities where you live and work
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or industry
- CPA license required; MST a plus
- Expert knowledge of individual, partnership, and corporate state and local income tax laws and principles
- Working knowledge of state and local sales and use tax laws and principles
- Outstanding communication skills
- Prior experience developing unique business solutions in a team-based environment
- Passion for coaching others to higher levels of performance
