SALT Senior Manager

About the role

Rehmann’s state and local tax (SALT) team helps clients achieve increased cash flow and a healthier bottom line by reviewing current operations and exemptions, negotiating with state tax authorities, and monitoring legislative changes.

Responsibilities

• Impact clients through review of current operations and exemptions
• Negotiate with state tax authorities to limit assessments
• Provide penalty waiver applications
• Monitor and navigate legislative changes
• Prepare a broad range of individual, corporate, and other entity tax returns
• Conduct tax research to develop solutions for clients' complex and/or unique situations
• Coach and train entry-level accounting professionals
• Mentor associates to help them reach their career goals
• Introduce other Rehmann specialists to existing clients
• Engage in community activities to make a difference

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or industry
• CPA license required; MST preferred
• Expert knowledge of individual, partnership, and corporate state and local income tax laws and principles
• Working knowledge of state and local sales and use tax laws and principles
• Outstanding communication skills
• Prior experience developing unique business solutions in a team-based environment
• Desire to coach and develop others to higher levels of performance
• Enthusiasm for recognizing and rewarding great work
